Estate agents have reported that inquiries from new home buyers hit a ten year high in April. There was also evidence that high street sales have also risen significantly and showed a like for like sales increase of 4.6 per cent during this April against the last two previous April figures.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) said that there were indications that 41 per cent more surveyors were reporting buyer inquiries rising rather than falling during March. That is a rise of 9 per cent. Property sales picked up and estate agents sold an average of 10.6 properties between February and April, this was up from 9.7 in the three months to March.

The pace of home price declines also halted slightly. First time buyers are still struggling to secure mortgage finance and this is still a consideration when looking at the property market as a whole.
